Giving & donations
How money moves once you hit donate
How do I know my donation reaches the right cause?
Every donation is recorded as a transaction linked to the specific cause or beneficiary you chose. That record appears immediately on both your donor history and the beneficiary's public profile — nothing is held or pooled unless you specifically choose the Platform Maintenance fund.
What's the difference between donating to a cause and Platform Maintenance?
A cause donation goes to a specific beneficiary's need — education, medical, food, and so on. A Platform Maintenance donation funds the infrastructure itself: hosting, payment gateway fees, moderation staffing, and the audit system. It's tracked as its own category and shown in the public Maintenance Cost Report rather than any beneficiary's page.
How does Zakat giving work here?
You can filter causes by the 8 traditional asnaf categories when donating as Zakat, so your contribution is matched to an eligible recipient class rather than a generic fund.
Can I set up a recurring donation?
Yes — recurring giving can be set on a monthly cadence to a chosen cause or to Platform Maintenance, and can be paused or cancelled anytime from your donor dashboard.
What payment methods are supported?
Donations are processed through an on-platform payment gateway supporting local mobile wallets and major cards — funds are recorded the moment a payment clears.
Beneficiaries & requests
For people posting a need
Who can register as a donation beneficiary?
Anyone with a genuine need can create a beneficiary profile. Your profile carries a full public history of everything you've received, so donors can see exactly how prior support was used.
Can I contact a specific donor directly?
Yes — beneficiaries can message donors and request support from a specific person, in addition to appearing in general cause listings.
What if my need is urgent?
Urgent requests can be flagged for faster visibility. The exact review process for urgent flags is still being finalized — check back for updates or ask support directly.
Can I receive non-cash help?
Yes — some causes support goods or service-based help instead of cash, matched and tracked the same way as monetary donations.
Verification & audits
How causes get independently checked
What is a pre-donation audit?
Any donor can request that a cause be independently verified — by a physical visit or phone call — before they donate. A phone-call verification is free; a physical visit is a paid add-on service. Either way you submit an audit request on the cause, it's assigned to an admin, moderator, or a third-party verifier, and the result is attached permanently to the cause's public record.
How much does an audit cost?
Audit pricing is still being finalized — it may end up flat-rate, distance-based, or a percentage of the intended donation. This FAQ will update once it's confirmed.
Can I see past audit results on a cause?
Yes — completed audits, including outcome and verifier notes, are shown directly on the cause or beneficiary's profile alongside its donation history.
Transparency & costs
Where every dollar actually goes
What is the Platform Maintenance Cost Report?
A public report comparing total Maintenance donations received against actual operating costs — hosting, gateway fees, audit payouts, staffing, and development — for any selected period, with a running surplus or deficit shown.
Is every transaction really public?
Yes, by default — donation and distribution history appears on both donor and beneficiary profiles. An admin-configurable disclosure setting controls exactly how much identifying detail is shown.
Who enters the platform's expense data?
Only platform admins can log operating expenses, categorized by type. Income figures are pulled automatically from the transaction system, so nothing is manually totaled or self-reported.
Account & security
Managing your donor or beneficiary profile
Can I donate or register anonymously?
You can opt out of appearing by name in public donor lists while your transaction history still contributes to transparency reporting in aggregate.
How do organizations get verified?
Organizations submit registration details and verification documents during signup; a verification badge is applied once reviewed by the platform team.
How do I delete my account?
Reach out through the contact page and our support team will guide you through account closure while preserving the historical transaction records transparency requires.
